Learn Reiki

I am honoured to offer courses in Reiki. My Reiki lineage is Usui Shiki Ryoho, carried by M Usui, C Hayashi, H Takata, PL Furumoto, F O'Neill, J Falmer, J Woods and R Ellis.

The first thing to note is that it is possible to teach yourself all of the technical details of Reiki through your own research, but the only thing that will empower your research and enable you to ‘do’ Reiki, is an attunement from a Reiki Master. These attunements are received at every level of Reiki (and the lineage I carry has four levels).

The second thing to note is that I am only a facilitator during the course. What is a teacher? "I’ll tell you: it isn’t someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of her best in order to discover what she already knows.” (Paulo Coelho, The Witch of Portobello.) As I give you the keys to work with this beautiful energy, you will be re-discovering elements of yourself and the universe that have been forgotten for a time, but there is nothing fundamentally new.

Each course comprises approximately two six hour days. You should try to commit two whole days to the course, as in the evenings you will really want to spend time chilling-out and allowing the energies to settle, and to practice techniques/symbols. Usually I will teach a course over one weekend. Each course comes with a Reiki manual included in the price, which covers theory and technique in detail. You don’t have to try and remember everything, as you can refer to these manuals at any time later (complete with diagrams and photographs).

Studying with me

Finding a teacher is a difficult and often very important step in your life. I remember the process myself (I did it twice), and took the time to speak to several different teachers before choosing, to find someone I connected with and trusted. Learning Reiki is exciting, but don't rush this. Please email and or phone me and ask any questions you like, and only confirm when you feel ready.

I am a relatively young Reiki Master at 24 years old, but have been practicing daily (joyfully) for several years now. Furthermore, I've been teaching/lecturing on English as a foreign language for about a year.

I teach Reiki from my one-room apartment in Bangkok. It's a humble affair: the Reiki mat is in the same room as my bed, and my bookshelf...and everything. However, the view is fantastic, it gets plenty of light, and a cheap apartment means I can keep the cost of my courses low.

I would be honoured if you choose to study Reiki with me, and it is with sincere gratitude that I pass on these gems on to others. In your decision to learn Reiki, and who to learn with, let your heart be your guide.

Please note that I only accept new students at the First Level.

First Level

The first level of Reiki establishes your connection to the Reiki energy through four powerful attunements. Each attunement will open your energy channels more to the Reiki energy, and by the end of the course you will probably find yourself buzzing. This is the only level of Reiki with multiple attunements, to really kick-start (or maybe nitro-boost) your healing journey. It is suitable for people with no healing experience or knowledge of energy systems, and for those with lots.

By the end of the first level, you will be empowered to heal yourself and others through the Usui system of drugless healing. You will have deepened knowledge of yourself, others, and how it all fits together. You will understand where Reiki has come from, and had practice in using it. Finally, you will be equipped and ready to conduct full treatment sessions on yourself and others.

The major course content comprises:

• the history of Reiki
• the Reiki Principles
• what really are the initiations (attunements)?
• the subtle anatomy (mainly chakras, but some on meridians)
• treating yourself and others, including scanning techniques
• the first level hand positions
• grounding
• preparation
• Reiki do’s/don’ts.

As you can see, there is a lot to get through at Reiki one, but the course will allow you explore these things at your own pace. After the first level, you will go through a 21-day clearing process, as your energy system adjusts to a new vibration. These three weeks are different for everyone, but it is always important to look after yourself, and regularly (daily) do self-healings. For some, it can be a period of elation, but for others, as your system is cleansed, old and unneeded emotions may rise to the surface, and it can be quite a turbulent time. Your efforts will be rewarded however; as you let go of painful blockages, you will be living more freely and lightly.

Second Level

The second level of Reiki is no better nor more powerful than the first, but adds a new dimension to your healing practice. The major difference about level two is that there is one further attunement, which empowers your use of the first three traditional Reiki symbols. These three symbols are both beautiful and powerful, and will widen your healing practice and help to make Reiki a part of your everyday life, not something that is kept on the shelf until it’s time to ‘do a treatment’.

By the end of the second level, you will be able to use the first three traditional Reiki symbols, which add significant new elements to your practice (e.g. healing from a distance, clearing spaces, and working with specific thought patterns/addictions). You will be introduced to a new healing sequence, which shifts the emphasis onto cranial and intuitive energy work. You will have a whole new set of healing techniques to add to your tool kit, and a level two initiate is generally considered to be able to start charging for his or her time.

The major course content comprises:

• Symbology: understanding and working with the traditional Reiki symbols
• Techniques:
• Cleansing spaces with Reiki
• Mental emotional healing, including the Sei Heki Chiryo technique
• Additional techniques (including pulling out energy, laser and spinal clearing techniques)
• Exercises for group and distant work
• What is energetic protection, and do we need it?

It is generally recommended by Reiki Masters to wait for three months after your first level before starting the second.

Advanced Reiki Practitioner Level

Here we are arriving at the higher levels of Reiki. In the first level you learned to be a channel of Reiki energy, how to sit back and watch in amazement as this beautiful energy flowed through your hands, went to where it was needed, and healed what you touched. At the second level you learned that through the use of symbols you are able to direct this energy to specific purposes, and that the energy is able to transcend the boundaries of time and space. At the third level you experience the blending of rest in motion, ego and egolessness, doing and not-doing, as the golden egg of the Reiki system is entrusted to you. This is the master symbol. You will learn its significance and uses, such as in creating a healing mandala. The third level brings new techniques to work with and a greater understanding of the energy.

(I use the traditional Usui Master symbol, but also include teaching on a modern, non-traditional Master symbol.)

Master Level

At the highest level of Reiki, you are blessed with the ability to pass the gift of Reiki onto others. You are welcomed to join the founders of Reiki and step onto the wheel of light passing on light. You explore what Mastery means, what merging with the heart of reality is, and that at the core of the Reiki phenomenon is the end of all trying, all boundaries, and all restlessness. This is not easy, but is really the simplest thing in the world. Giving up the illusionary self that you are accustomed to, you are invited to go beyond all suffering, in the midst of your pain, and to become a warm light of universal blessing and strength.
